Ray Brown Memorial Park Featured in Hardin County Tourism Spotlight
Hardin County Chamber and Business Alliance shined its latest Tourism Spotlight on the Ray Brown Memorial Park in Alger.
This vibrant community space serves as a dedicated tribute to Alger High School graduate Ray Brown, a premier Negro League pitcher who led the Homestead Grays to eight pennants and threw a legendary one-hitter in the 1944 Negro World Series.
After a multi-year collaboration between the Hardin County Historical Museums, the Village of Alger, and Ohio Northern University, the park has been transformed into an educational and recreational landmark.
A dedication ceremony was held on May 14 of this year.
Visitors can explore the historic grounds, read the newly erected state historical marker, and view a breathtaking, multi-paneled mural painted by local artist Aubrey Davis, that blends sports heritage with local Hardin County imagery.
