The Russells Point Police Department shot down social media speculation suggesting that the use of a multi-use vehicle earlier this week was a covert traffic enforcement operation.

According to a release, officers responded to a non-injury crash at US 33 and Lincoln Boulevard, and due to an extended response time and while returning to town, they handled the call using the village’s multi-use vehicle rather than returning to the garage to retrieve a marked cruiser.

The Honda Ridgeline is a designated multi-use vehicle equipped with emergency lighting and is used for a variety of village functions.

While on scene, the vehicle was positioned behind one of the involved vehicles with its emergency lights activated for scene safety.
