Sidney Motorcyclist Seriously Injured in Early Sunday Morning Crash

The Piqua Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a serious injury traffic crash that occurred on W. Michigan Street just east of Interstate 75 in the city of Sidney.  The crash occurred on Sunday, May 31, 2026 at 1:35 A.M.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2026 Hyundai Kona, operated by James Key of New Concord, Kentucky, was stopped and attempting to enter the roadway from the Speedway gas station parking lot.  The Hyundai entered W. Michigan Street where it was struck by an eastbound 2025 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle.  

The motorcycle operator, Omar Rivera of Sidney, Ohio, suffered serious injuries as a result of the crash and was transported to Wilson Hospital by Sidney EMS before being transferred to Miami Valley Hospital by Careflight.

The crash remains under investigation by the Piqua Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Troopers from the Piqua Post were assisted on scene by Sidney Police Department, Sidney Fire & EMS, and Topps Towing.
