Two trains collided resulting in a derailment in Carey Monday morning.
According to the report from the Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office, the tracks go from two rails down to one between County Roads 5 and 3, and it appeared a northbound CSX train entered the single track before a southbound train had cleared.
The resulting collision caused the northbound engine to roll onto its side and several cars derailed.
The trains were carrying only trash and sand.
One person on the trains complained of having a headache and was checked at the scene by Wyandot County EMS.
CSX employees arrived on scene to begin the process of clearing the wreckage, which they indicated would take around 24 hours.
