Two people were arrested early this morning in Hancock County after deputies from the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a residence to investigate a domestic violence incident.

A caller stated that a female resident had been injured and was being held against her will.

When deputies arrived at 16091 County Road 8, they encountered two male subjects who were uncooperative and denied the female victim was present.

Deputies determined that one of the men, identified as 24-year-old Jase Lauck, was holding the woman and preventing her from speaking with law enforcement, and he also made threats towards deputies.

He refused commands to exit the residence.

A search warrant was then obtained, and Lauck surrendered.

While searching the resident, deputies found the woman in a crawl space beneath the home.

Also in the house at the time were the victim’s three children along with a man identified as 36-year-old Chase Craig, of Marion.

Hanco EMS evaluated the victim and the children at the scene, an no additional medical treatment was required.

Lauck was arrested on charges of domestic violence, kidnapping and obstructing official business.

He is also under indictment for domestic violence by strangulation.

Craig was arrested on a charge of obstruction of official business.

The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau and the METRICH Drug Task Force are continuing the investigation, and additional charges are anticipated.
