Two Motorcyclists Seriously Injured in Separate Marion County Crashes

Two separate motorcycle crashes resulted in serious injuries Thursday evening in Marion County.

According to the first release from the Marion Post of the Ohio State Patrol, at around 5:43pm 59 year old John Cantrell, of LaRue, was riding north on State Route 4, and he when he began to slow down, his motorcycle was struck from behind by a car being operated by 24 year old Tyler McDaniel, of Marion.

Cantrell was first transported to Marion General Hospital and later flown to Grant Medical Center in Columbus.

McDaniel was not injured.

Then around 7:05 Thursday evening, 56 year old Roland Ridgeway was riding north on State Route 529 when a southbound car attempted to turn left into a private driveway.

The car struck the motorcycle sending Ridgeway to Marion General Hospital where he was later flown to Grant Medical Center.

The 17 year old driver of the car was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Both crashes remain under investigation.
