Police in Wapakoneta moved Tuesday to stop rumors that there was an attempted abduction incident in the city back on Friday.

According to a release from the department, the investigation started after a Facebook post showed a possible human trafficking attempt at McDonald’s and various other businesses in Wapakoneta.

Officers interviewed juveniles and also reviewed video from McDonald’s that shows a female and a male, one of whom appears to be under the influence.

The department came to the conclusion that there was never an attempt to lure the female juveniles into a vehicle, and they are confident that this was not a human trafficking incident.

The police department thanked the staff of McDonald’s in Wapakoneta for their cooperation.
