The Wapakoneta Police Department reminded residents in that city that new legislation pertaining to golf carts and side by side vehicles is set to take effect on June 3rd.

City council adopted the legislation on May 3.

Over the next few weeks Wapakoneta police officers will be informing and educating the public about the new law and the requirements that are needed to be in compliance.

Golf carts are considered a motor vehicle and are subject to the same traffic laws as a typical passenger car.

You must be a valid licensed driver and seat belts must be installed to operate.

Under speed vehicles, golf carts and mini-trucks are restricted to 35 mph and lower speed zones.
