A Marseilles man died in a motorcycle accident over the weekend.
According to a release from the Bucyrus Post of the Ohio State Patrol, the crash was discovered around 9:15 Sunday night on County Highway 77 east of Township Road 108 in Wyandot County.
It involved a 2008 Harley Davidson motorcycle operated by 49 year-old Michael C. Hoy.
The preliminary investigation indicates that the motorcycle was traveling west on 77 when it collided with a deer.
Hoy lost control of the motorcycle and was ejected.
He was transported from the scene to Wyandot Memorial Hospital where he passed away.
He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Hoy was a Deputy with the Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office.
He began his career with the department in 1999.
In a statement, Sheriff Todd Frey called Deputy Hoy “a valuable asset to the department who will be missed. “
Sheriff Fry asked everyone to “keep his family and his law enforcement family in your prayers.”
The crash remains under investigation.
