Yesterday, the Benjamin Logan Athletic Department held a ceremony before the finals of their annual wrestling invitational to announce the decision to rename the tournament to “The Grant Invitational.”

The Benjamin Logan High School Athletic Department shared a statement saying they “proudly recognize and honor the Grant Family, former Head Wrestling Coach Tony Grant, his wife Susie, and brother, Assistant Coach Robyn Grant, for their lasting contributions to our wrestling program and student-athletes.  Their leadership, dedication, and commitment to excellence helped shape the culture of our program and influenced countless lives on and off the mat.”

Despite several teams dropping out due to weather forecasts, 15 teams still competed in the annual tournament, with the Raiders taking 3rd place. Juniors Owen Weaks and Ethan Carpenter continued their dominance, winning their respective weight classes and being named Most Valuable Wrestlers. Junior Cooper Buck pinned his way through the 138lb class, while Junior Levi Achor returned to action and finished as Runner-Up. Freshman Sebass Stokes also took Runner-Up in the 120lb class, and Freshman Emerson Carpenter placed 4th. Other competitors included 138lb Senior Cody Smith, 150lb Junior Maximus Troth, 150lb Sophomore Bode Clapsaddle, 157lb Freshman Eli Carpenter, and 165lb Junior Cole Somerlot.
