Kenton Senior Gabi Wetherill was selected as the 2022 Female recipient of the Ohio Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association (OSSCA) Leadership Award presented by the Ohio Army National Guard. The award was presented to Wetherill at the OSSCA Awards Banquet in Columbus on Saturday, January 8th.
The OSSCA Leadership Award is presented by the Ohio Army National Guard each year to one male, and one female senior soccer player from across the state. To be considered for this award, the student-athlete must have at least a 3.0 GPA, have at least a 90% attendance rate at school, and demonstrate leadership qualities such as teamwork, integrity, dedication, and respect.
The award recipient receives the Minuteman statue which symbolizes the Ohio Army National Guard’s commitment to drop everything when called upon to serve Ohio and the United States of America. Presenting the award to Gabi on Saturday was Lieutenant Colonel David R. Foster, Commander of Recruiting & Retention for the Ohio Army National Guard and John Orozco, President of the OSSCA.
