Impressive Kenton Boys Tennis Season Ends at Sectionals

The Kenton Boys Tennis team traveled to UNOH in Lima on Thursday to compete in the NW District Division 2 Sectional Tournament.

In the opening round, Leighton Wirbel beat Beau Bear 6-3, 6-4, while Ethan McNamara and Jack Whitmer fell to Noah Jostpile and Zane Soloman 2-6, 2-6.

In the second round, Leighton Wirbel fell to Leyton Staley 0-6, 0-6, while Garraden Wirbel lost to Bradey Triplett 6-4, 2-6, 4-6. Seth Spencer topped Brandon Prater 6-4, 7-5, and Wyatt Campbell with Cale Harshfield beat Brayden Wright and Bentley Webb 6-0, 6-1.

Spencer, Campbell, and Harshfield competed in the quarterfinals for a shot at qualifying for the District Tournament. Unfortunately, Seth Spencer fell to Evan Brinkman 0-6, 0-6, and the duo of Wyatt Campbell and Cale Harshfield lost to Ollie Chisholm and Korey Klosterman 6-3, 2-6, 1-6.

Kenton’s tennis season has wrapped up, with the Wildcats finishing the regular season at 10-5 and going 6-3 in the WBL to tie for third place. After factoring in the WBL tournament results, the Kenton boys’ team secured sixth place overall in the league.
