Kenton Varsity Softball falls to St. Mary’s Memorial 12 – 3

Kenton Varsity Wildcats couldn’t keep up with St. Marys Memorial Roughriders Varsity and fell 12-3 on Wednesday for their tournament game. 

St. Marys Memorial Roughriders Varsity were the first to get on the board in the first when Alexis Shadrach singled, scoring one run. St. Marys Memorial Roughriders Varsity scored five runs on three hits in the bottom of the second inning. An error scored one run, Adyson Van De Keere doubled, scoring two runs, and Ava Klosterman singled, scoring two runs.

St. Marys Memorial Roughriders Varsity scored five runs on two hits in the bottom of the sixth inning. Shadrach doubled, scoring two runs, an error scored one run, Kylee Kavanaugh induced Claire Turner to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored, and Ryleigh Berg drew a walk, scoring one run.

Van De Keere earned the win for St. Marys Memorial Roughriders Varsity. The right-handed pitcher allowed four hits and three runs (two earned) over seven innings, striking out 12 and walking two. Peyton Rudasill took the loss for Kenton Varsity Wildcats. The pitcher went three innings, allowing six runs (one earned) on five hits, striking out none and walking two.

Riley Totten, Macee Heckathorn, CJ Newberry, and Lyla Gammon each collected one hit for Kenton Varsity Wildcats. Totten led Kenton Varsity Wildcats with one run batted in. The leadoff hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Kenton Varsity Wildcats ran wild on the base paths, tallying four stolen bases for the game.
