Riverdale Secures 3rd Place in Division at 795 Cup

The Riverdale boys’ soccer team competed in the 795 Cup at Genoa High School over the weekend. The Falcons finished in second place in their group by beating Defiance, tying Port Clinton, and falling to Delta. Riverdale was placed in the second division based on its results from pool play. The Falcons fell to eventual champions Maumee Valley Country Day before rebounding with a come-from-behind win over Fremont Ross. Riverdale finished the weekend with an exciting match with Napoleon, which saw the Falcons tie the score late in the game and then win in a shootout to finish in third place in their division. Coach Andrew Snook was pleased with the results from the weekend. “We brought a relatively inexperienced squad to the tournament this weekend, but we showed that we have the potential to be very successful in the upcoming season.”
