Riverdale will be represented by two esports teams in the state tournaments. The Falcons club Marvel Rivals squad, consisting of Captain Trent Locke, Odyn Ackermann, Lonnie Adams, Parker Goodrich, Maelin Mitsch, and Hunter Studer, secured the 3rd seed and a first-round bye, sending them straight to the Elite 8. Riverdale is working on streaming the matches, which will be played locally.
The varsity Fortnite team, made up of Jayden Miller, Mattix Harris, Shane Manns, and Davien Michalski, is also heading to state at the Cedar Point Esports Complex on February 21st at 8:00 AM, with Esports Ohio streaming the event. They placed 5th out of 23 regional teams in a season that saw 126 Premier-level and 47 Club-level teams, marking this a major achievement and earning major bragging rights for the program.
