USV softball travelled to North Baltimore on Tuesday evening.Upper Scioto Valley battled back from a late deficit and made things interesting with a strong seventh-inning rally, but ultimately came up just short in a 9-7 defeat.

USV trailed 9-2 entering the final inning before scoring five runs on four hits to cut the lead to two. The rally included RBI hits from Ashlyn Downing, Audrey Lawrence, and Chloe Cunningham, along with a run-scoring groundout from Layla Hunsicker.

North Baltimore opened the scoring in the second inning and gradually built their lead, taking advantage of key hits in the middle innings to go ahead 9-2 before USV’s late push.

Offensively, Ashlyn Downing led the Rams, going 2-for-4 with 3 RBIs. Chloe Cunningham, Audrey Lawrence, and Layla Hunsicker each added two hits in the game. Raegan Castle and Araya Boyd each contributed a hit as well. USV finished with 10 hits as a team.

In the circle, Raegan Castle started and struck out 8 batters over 4 innings, while Riley Risner worked in relief.

Despite the result, the Rams showed strong resilience with their late-game rally and continued offensive pressure.
