
The Upper Scioto Valley Varsity Softball team earned a decisive 18-3 victory over Perry on Tuesday night in a strong all-around performance.
The Rams got on the board early in the first inning, scoring four runs behind contributions from Bentley Lopez, Raegan Castle, Ashlyn Downing, and a Perry error. Upper Scioto Valley broke the game open in the second inning, plating nine runs on seven hits. Highlighting the inning was an inside-the-park home run by Layla Hunsicker, along with RBI hits from Ruby Risner, Chloe Cunningham, Gracie Carl, Audrey Lawrence, and Lopez.
The Rams continued to build their lead in the third inning with RBI hits from Cunningham and Araya Boyd.
At the plate, Upper Scioto Valley recorded 15 hits and showed excellent discipline with 12 walks. Ashlyn Downing led the way, going 3-for-3 with four RBIs, while Chloe Cunningham added three hits and three RBIs. Layla Hunsicker also had a big night with multiple hits, including her inside-the-park home run. Lopez, Risner, and Hunsicker each recorded multiple hits.
In the circle, Raegan Castle earned the win, pitching three innings while allowing just two hits and striking out five. Ruby Risner closed out the game with two scoreless innings in relief.
Upper Scioto Valley was also aggressive on the base paths, tallying six stolen bases in the contest.
The Rams will return to action Friday against Spencerville.
