Wildcat Varsity Bowling Splits Against Wapak on Senior Night

Kenton Wildcats bowling closed out the regular season hosting Wapakoneta Tuesday on Senior night.

The girls’ team came out on top by a score of 2184 – 2045. Kenton jumped ahead early after the first individual games, 751-683, and extended their lead to 177 pins after the second set, 755-646, heading into the five baker games up 1506-1329. Although Kenton gave up some ground to the Redskins during the bakers, 678-718, they still secured the victory. Leading the Wildcats was Jazalyn Worthington with a 372 series (213-159), followed by Karyn Hopkins with 365 (195-170), and senior Brayla Butler with 345 (128-217), which included the high game. Senior Presley Wilson posted 228 (113-115) and senior Katelyn Stevenson finished with 196 (102-94). The win moves the ladies to 4-5 in the WBL regular season.

The boys fell to 6-3 on the season with a 2790 – 2843 loss. Kenton fell behind early in the first individual games, 922–990, but the Wildcats bounced back in the second with a 977–935 win, entering the five baker games down 26 pins at 1899–1925. The lead shifted throughout the first four bakers—down 12 pins, up 22, then down 5. Heading into the fifth baker down 23 pins, the Wildcats couldn’t complete the comeback, ultimately falling by 53 pins, 2790–2843. Trevor Roesner led the team with a 436 series (169–267), which included the high game. Senior Cale Harshfield posted a 387 (225–162), Hudson Latimore had a 360 (182–178), and Senior Parker Benson finished with a 331 (163–168).

Both teams compete in the WBL tournament on Thursday morning at Westgate Lanes.
