University of Findlay Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble will present “Hymnal: Celebrating the Legacy of Jack Taylor” for the annual Spring Concert on Sunday, May 2 at 3 p.m.

The free concert will be presented virtually via livestream on UFTV’s YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCts1hDk_sBfKmJ5gGysNJ4A/featured

Former UF Professor of Music and Director of Bands, Jack Taylor, will be making a guest appearance to assist the current Director of Bands, Wes King, in conducting the performance. This concert will serve as Taylor’s final retirement concert, which was meant to take place in May, 2020 but was cancelled due to the pandemic.

“Both the Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble will perform Jack’s piece ‘Hymnal’ which is a ten-movement work that features a number of hymns in very interesting settings,” King said. “We are all excited to see him return to the podium for a proper send off.”

Featured soloist will be Matthew Buchfellner, a pharmacy major from Brunswick, Ohio. He will perform “Carnival of Venice,” arranged by Del Staigers, edited by David Marlatt.
