MPD Officer Escapes with Minor Injures; Suspect Shot During Domestic Incident in Marysville

A Marysville Police Officer was injured after responding to a domestic situation early this morning.

According to a release from the Marysville Police Department, officers were dispatched to the 900 block of White Oak Court in Marysville regarding a domestic dispute.

Upon arrival, a male suspect produced a firearm and fired shots at the officers from inside his vehicle.

Officers returned fire, but the suspect fled the scene in his vehicle, striking a police cruiser that was occupied by an officer.

The officer was transported to a local hospital and was treated and released.

Deputies from the Union County Sheriff’s Office and Troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol quickly located the vehicle in the area of State Route 31 and US 33, but the suspect refused to stop and a pursuit was initiated.

That ended when the suspect’s vehicle became disabled in the median of US33 near Northwest Parkway.

The suspect exited the vehicle armed with a firearm and was struck with multiple rounds fired by law enforcement officers.

They immediately rendered aid until Marysville Fire personnel arrived on scene.

The suspect was transported to a Columbus area hospital, but his condition is currently not known.

As is standard practice in officer-involved critical incidents, the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation was contacted to conduct the investigation.

The case remains under investigation by BCI, the Marysville Police Department and the Union County Sheriff’s Office.

Charges of felonious assault on a peace officer, along with other serious felonies, are forthcoming.
