A Dunkirk man has been indicted for the murder of a Mt. Victory man in 2022.
Anthony Allen Browne, age 50, was indicted on one count of aggravated murder in connection to the murder of Richard Whitaker Jr. on September 3 of 2022.
Hardin County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the area of County Road 135 near County Road 110, where they located a vehicle parked in the road, and inside was Whitaker, who was suffering from a gunshot wound.
He was flown from Hardin Memorial Hospital to St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima where he died.
The investigation culminated in the grand jury indictment of Browne, and the case was filed Thursday in Hardin County Common Pleas Court.
In addition to aggravated murder, Browne was indicted on charges of tampering with evidence, having weapons under disability, possessing criminal tools and defacing identification marks on a firearm.
He will be arraigned on the charges on July 24.
Browne is currently serving a five year prison sentence handed down in September of 2024 on two counts of illegal manufacturing of drugs.
