Marion County Prosecutor Ray Grogan announced Tuesday a life sentence plus 13 years for Kyle Knickel, who was convicted of sexually assaulting multiple children and producing explicit images of minors.

The sentence, handed down by Judge Todd Anderson, follows Knickel’s guilty plea last month and reflects the severity of his crimes, which devastated young victims and their families.

Prosecutors and investigators emphasized that this outcome ensures Knickel will never harm another child and serves as a strong warning to potential offenders.

Kyle Knickel Sentenced to Life in Prison without Parole, plus 13 years, for sexually assaulting multiple children and taking pictures of other children.

Knickel was convicted on charges of Rape of a victim under 10 years old, which resulted in the life sentence. Knickel also received an additional eight consecutive years for Pandering Sexually Oriented Matter Involving a Minor and another five consecutive years for Gross Sexual Imposition.

Knickel is a deviant offender of the worst sort, having performed oral sex on a four-year-old girl and fondling a 7-year-old boy’s genitals. He also took photos of another naked child.

The sentences, handed down by Judge Todd Anderson, follows Knickel’s guilty plea last month, stemming from disclosures by a little girl and little boy to professionals at the Nationwide Children’s Hospital’s Child Advocacy Center in Columbus, Ohio.

The investigation was sparked by The Ohio Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force who alerted the Marion County Sheriff’s Office Marion,OH to suspected downloaded images. The investigation conducted by Det. Katie Barber and Det. Christy Utley then determined Knickel’s pattern of abuse.

Assistant Prosecutor Allison Kesler prosecuted the matter with Marion County Prosecutor Ray Grogan. The guilty plea and severe sentence reflect the gravity of Knickel’s crimes, which shattered young lives, traumatized families, and demanded maximum accountability to prevent future harm.

“This sentence sends away a predator for life, ensuring he never harms another child,” Grogan said. “Knickel’s years of abuse end today, thanks to the brave disclosures from these kids.”

“We stand guard for every child in our community,” Grogan concluded. “This outcome warns all abusers: we will find you, and justice is relentless.”
