
A ribbon cutting ceremony was part of the festivities this (Friday) morning at the newly remodeled Kenton Walmart Supercenter where a grand re-opening celebration event was held.
Store Manager Jennifer Peeks welcomed the crowd and recognized 14 long-time Walmart associates.

After a weeks-long refurbishing project, Walmart welcomed shoppers to explore the new layout, featuring expanded selections, rearranged departments designed to make shopping easier for customers, a renovated Pharmacy area and more.
Kenton Mayor Lynn Webb thanked Walmart for their commitment to the city.

$2000 checks were then presented to the Kenton Police and Fire Departments, Kenton City Schools, Hardin County Sheriff’s Office, and the Hardin County Dog Shelter.




A community celebration followed with national brands such as Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Celsius, Kellogg’s, Little Debbie, and Nabisco offering samples and special giveaways to attendees.

KENTON, OHIO (AUGUST 29, 2025) – Walmart customers in Kenton were welcomed inside the newly transformed Supercenter at 1241 E. Columbus Street this morning as the much-anticipated project is now complete. Creating omni-shopping experiences that save customers time and money, Walmart continues its transformational journey to become America’s favorite place to shop whether in-store, online or via the mobile app.
Walmart associates marked the occasion this morning with a ribbon cutting ceremony, community celebration, and the unveiling of a community-inspired mural. The event was attended by local organizations such as the Kenton Police and Fire departments, Kenton City Schools, Hardin County Sheriff’s Department, and Kenton Mayor Lynn Jones Webb.
“Here at Walmart, we’re always working to enhance our customers’ overall shopping experience,” said Jennifer Peeks, Walmart store manager. “We’re excited to share this remodel with our customers and provide them with a variety of new features and improvements across our store. I’d like to extend a big thank you to our dedicated associates and store leadership teams for their exceptional efforts throughout this renovation project.”
During this morning’s celebration, store leaders and associates highlighted the transformation as well as the new interactive features available to customers, including:
• Exciting displays that pull customers in and help them to touch, feel, and become a part of the space
• Transformed departments featuring more merchandise and apparel brands
• New digital touchpoints located throughout the store help communicate the vast assortment of products and services Walmart offers online through the use of QR codes and digital screens
• Updates to the Vision and Pharmacy departments
• Reconfigured store layout creating more space for customers to explore and discover the breadth and depth of what their local store has to offer
• New signage allowing for easier navigation throughout the store
In addition, Walmart customers in Kenton now have access to a wider assortment of products. Through online pickup, delivery, express delivery and Walmart Pay, customers can now get the products they want when they want them – resulting in a better overall shopping experience.
To further illustrate Walmart’s commitment to helping others live better in the communities it serves, the store manager and several associates presented $10,000 in grants to local nonprofit organizations, including:
• $2,000 to the Hardin County Animal Shelter
• $2,000 to the Hardin County Sheriff Department
• $2,000 to the Kenton City School District
• $2,000 to the Kenton Fire Department
• $2,000 to the Kenton Police Department
The ceremony concluded with the exciting unveiling of the store’s new mural. The piece captures Kenton’s rich history and community spirit, as it features the historic Hardin County Courthouse and depicts the community’s agricultural heritage and natural beauty.
