The Van Wert Cougars broke open a close game in the second half and defeated the Kenton Wildcats 67-58 in Western Buckeye League boys basketball action Friday.
Kenton (0-10 overall, 0-4 WBL) led 34-32 midway through the third quarter but the Cougars (3-9, 1-4) scored 23 of the next 27 points to build an 18-point advantage.
Owen Treece led all scorers with 32 points for the Cougars.
Jacob Eversole had 16 points & 9 rebounds to pace the Cats, with Gavin Payne adding 14 points and 5 rebounds.
Eversole was named the Ace Hardware Player of the Game.
