House on Columbus Street in Kenton Damaged by Fire

A house in the 400 block of West Columbus Street was damaged by fire Sunday evening.

According to information from the Kenton Fire Department, firefighters were dispatched to 430 West Columbus at around 7:20pm, and they found heavy smoke and fire coming from the backside of the house.

The fire was quickly contained in that area, but it spread to the attic area above the kitchen.

The fire is believed to have started in the laundry room and is considered to be accidental.

The occupants made it out of the house, and there were no injuries.

Heavy damage occurred to the laundry room and attic, and the rest of the house had smoke damage.

Mutual assistance was provided by the Forest, Richland Township and McGuffey Fire Departments and EMS squads from BKP and Forest.

Firefighters were on the scene until just after 11 Sunday night.
