Kenton School Superintendent Reports New Option for Reporting Student Attendance

Kenton City School officials hope to have a solution soon for telephone connectivity issues at the school buildings in the district.

Superintendent Chad Thrush noted that all of the buildings have been experiencing issues the last few weeks.  

He stated that they believe they’ve found a solution that should begin working by next week.  

Thrush added that they are also offering parents another option for reporting their child’s attendance.

Parents can submit their child’s name and reason for an absence via ParentSquare. 

Attendance messaging is specific to each building, so if you have students at more than one building, you will need to message both buildings.

Dear Wildcat Families,

All our school buildings have been experiencing telephone connectivity issues the last few weeks.  Like many businesses, KCS uses Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) technology which is usually very reliable. We’ve been working with our VoIP provider as well as Ohio’s internet provider for K12 schools and Higher Education. All parties do believe they’ve found a solution that should begin working by next week.  However, we would also like to offer parents another option for reporting their child’s attendance moving forward.

Parents can submit their child’s name and reason for an absence via ParentSquare by opening the “messages” tab within the app and searching for “Attendance.”  Attendance messaging is specific to each building. If you have students at more than one building, you will need to message both buildings, just as you would have to call the attendance secretary at each building.

We are hopeful the calling issue will be resolved by next week, but this is one more option parents can use to report their child’s attendance moving forward.
