A minor crash on Wyandot County Highway Nine caused a power outage in Sycamore early Sunday morning. Accounts from a witness to the crash state a pickup truck skidded off the road and struck a utility pole, which then caught fire as the driver left the scene and drove to his nearby residence. The driver, identified as Michael Danner of Sycamore, was cited for failure to control.
Deputies from the Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office responded to a one-car crash in Crane Township Thursday night. Billy J. Harris of Nevada was LifeFlighted to St. Vincent Hospital in Toledo after his 2011 Dodge exited the right side of Township Highway 60 onto an embankment, went left-of-center into a ditch, struck a cable pole, and rolled at least twice. Alcohol is suspected as a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
Investigation continues into a fatal one-car crash which occured in Allen County Saturday afternoon. Troopers from the Lima Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to the scene on Fort Amanda Road around 4:15 p.m. A 2010 Pontiac G6 driven by Wapakonetan Layla Yoakam, 17, had gone off the right side of the roadway, struck a fence, pole, and tree, and overturned. While Kenton High School's wrestling team failed to win any of their dual meets at Allen East over the weekend, 170-pound senior Carter Bays added five victories to his resume, scoring two pins, two decisions, and one forfeit. Bays' decisions came against Allen East's Gage Wireman and Grant Young of Van Buren. His win over Fremont Ross came via forfeit, and matches against Mikey Brzeczek of Woodmore and Justin Flanders of Columbus Grove ended in pin fall victories for Bays. […]

Monday, January 18, marks the beginning of Waterford Hotel Group’s management of The Inn at Ohio Northern University. Connecticut-based Waterford Hotel Group currently manages 36 hotels in nine states, including on-campus facilities at Amherst, Williams, and Gettysburg Colleges. Current Ohio Waterford Hotel Group properties include a Westin in Columbus and a Comfort Inn in Piqua. ONU will maintain sole ownership of The Inn, which opened in 2008.
