Free Fishing Day in Kenton on May 5th

Free Fishing Day will be held at France Lake in Kenton on May 5. Aaron McPherson, a tournament winning Kayak fisherman, will be on hand from noon until 2. Food will be served from 11am until 4pm. Quarry trustees will also be there to answer questions. Free fishing will be allowed all day.

Carol Steegman Selected as a Board Member of Preservation Ohio

The Kenton Historic Courthouse District announced that Carol Steegman, KHCD Coordinator and Alliance Program Assistant, has been selected to serve as a Board Member of Preservation Ohio. Preservation Ohio is a statewide non-profit corporation. It is focused on advocacy for and education about Ohio’s collection of historic buildings, downtowns, neighborhoods, landscapes, and communities.

Alger Food Pantry Releases Summer Schedule

The Alger Food Pantry schedule for the summer of 2024 has been released. Commodities will be available May 22 and June 19. July dates will be shared soon. Individuals can pick up a pre-packed box of nonperishable goods on those dates. The boxes can be picked up at the Alger Community Center located at 305 North Main Street in Alger.

Hardin Northern Students Showcase Engineering Skills

4th grade students at Hardin Northern have been working on their engineering skills. They have put together their knowledge of energy and the engineering design process to build roller coasters. The students designed, tested, and improved their roller coaster until it was functional. They presented their final products to the class, and explained how energy and forces made their roller coaster successful.
