State Fire Marshal Announces $8 Million to Support Ohio’s Small County Volunteer Fire Departments

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Nearly 200 fire departments across the state will soon receive funding to better equip themselves to protect Ohio communities. The Ohio Department of Commerce Division of State Fire Marshal has announced the recipients of a first-of-its-kind Small County Volunteer Fire Department (SCVFD) Grant that was established during the 136th General Assembly via House Bill 96. Boil Water Advisory Lifted for Section of Forest

A Boil Water Advisory for a section of Forest has been lifted as of this morning. The boil advisory was in effect for the area of Mad River to Mary Street including Dixon Street and South of Dixon in the village. It was issued Tuesday after the repair of a water main break in the area, but again, it is no longer in effect.

Kenneth Steven "Tiny" Holbrook, 50, of Kenton, passed away on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton. He was born on September 26, 1975, in Ft. Myers, Florida, to Ken (Teresa) Holbrook of Kenton and Debby Cook of Ft. Myers, both of whom survive. Ohio House Passes Bill Recognizing JROTC as Career-Technical Education

(COLUMBUS, OH) State Representatives Ty Mathews (R-Findlay) and Kevin Ritter (R-Marietta) yesterday announced the Ohio House of Representatives unanimously passed House Bill 500, legislation that aims to strengthen the state’s educational system, boost Ohio’s JROTC programs, and expand career technical education pathways.  The bill allows school districts in Ohio that offer a Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) program or a National Defense Cadet Corps (NDCC) program to formally recognize them as part of the district’s career-technical education curriculum. Two Arrested After Narcotics Search Warrant Executed at Findlay Residence

This morning, at approximately 1:00 a.m., the Hancock County METRICH Drug Task Force assisted by the Findlay Police Emergency Response Team (ERT) executed a narcotic search warrant at 2034 Elyria St. Findlay OH, 45840.    The search of the residence yielded 11 ounces of suspected methamphetamine and multiple items indicative of drug trafficking. Upper Sandusky High School senior Ethan Lewis captured the Northern 10 Conference Championship at 157 pounds, adding to an already remarkable season. Lewis is now a two-time Northern 10 Champion, a 2025 State Qualifier, and recently reached 125 career wins, highlighting his dedication, toughness, and consistency on the mat.
