Carl E. Deckler age 80 of Upper Sandusky died Sun. May 23, 2021 at his residence.  He was born June 19, 1940 in Alvada to the late Emil & Gladys (Kinn) Deckler. He married Sandy L. Don R. Lay, 78, of rural Belle Center, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday evening, May 20, 2021, after battling congestive heart failure. Don was born in Hardin County on September 13, 1942, to the late Earl and Elizabeth (Sproul) Lay.  He was also preceded in death by his siblings: Lloyd Lay, Dorothy Kelley, and Edward Lay. Head Football Coach Brent Fackler Stepping-down After 36 Seasons at Kenton

According to a press release from Kenton High School Athletic Director Brett Purcell, Coach Brent Fackler has announced that he is stepping down as Head Football Coach at Kenton High School. Commissioners Hold April 15th Meeting

The Hardin County Commissioners met on April 15th. They heard from the County engineer who had new county maps printed at a cost of $4 each. The Commissioners voted and approved to charge $2 each with cost going into the tax map office funds. They also heard from Sharon Huston, Hardin Hills Administrator. Hardin Northern Schools are asking for donations to help Ms. Ashlyn DeLong who is a first grade teacher at Hardin Northern. According to a post on Hardin Northern's Facebook Page, Ashlyn is a dedicated educator who has worked this entire year during Covid, doing in person instruction, while being pregnant with her first child. A Kenton woman was injured Wednesday morning in downtown Kenton. According to the accident report, 40 year old Santrice Dennard of Lima was stopped for a red light facing north in the left turn lane of South Main Street. AEP Ohio Neighbor to Neighbor Program Accepting Applications for Winter Heating Assistance

The AEP Ohio Neighbor to Neighbor Program is now accepting applications for utility assistance grants for the 2020-2021 winter heating season.  Through a partnership between AEP Ohio, an American Electric Power (NYSE: AEP) company, and Dollar Energy Fund, the Neighbor to Neighbor Program supports families in need with a grant applied directly to their AEP Ohio account to prevent disconnection of, or to restore their electric service. Hardin Northern will be presenting Polar Bear Showcase and Art Show.

The open house event will be held Monday April  26th from 5:30 until 7:30pm. Students in K-12 will lead you through classroom exhibits and demonstrations, with a focus on Project based learning and highlighting their work from the year. Narcotics Related Search Warrant Served, 1 Arrested

On Thursday, April 8th, 2021, the West Central Ohio Crime Task Force, assisted by the Allen County Sheriff’s Office S.W.A.T. Team, served a narcotics related search warrant at 617 S. Scott St. Lima, Allen County, Ohio. During the search of the residence, suspected crack cocaine, a semi-automatic pistol, drug paraphernalia, and $1506.00 U.S. currency were located.
