Today’s the Deadline to Order Forest Area CIC Ornaments

The Forest Area Community Improvement Corporation still has ornaments available in honor or in memory of Veterans and active service members.   Ornaments are approximately 4" in diameter and are $5.00 each.   Cash or Checks should be made payable to the Forest Area CIC and can be dropped off at the Municipal Building in Forest.   All orders must be received by today.

New Rule for Dairy Beef Feeder Exhibitors at Hardin County Fair

The Hardin County Fair Dairy Beef committee has introduced a new rule for dairy beef feeder exhibitors.   According to the committee, to prevent having a maximum weight limit at the fair, a 350-pound weight limit will be enforced at the weigh in this Saturday, May 25th from 8:00 am to 10:30 am.   Fair veterinarians from Diamond M Veterinary Clinic will be at the weigh-in to administer the mandatory vaccines.

HN Cheerleaders Selling Spirit Items

The Hardin Northern cheerleaders are selling spirit items for next year.   The profit earned from this fundraiser will pay for the cheerleaders to attend camp.   If you are interested in ordering something, the sale will run through June 1st.   All checks need to be made payable to HN Cheer and orders can be brought to the school office.   Those ordering will be contacted when the orders are ready for pick-up.

ONU Cedar Point Day is June 22

ONU Cedar Point day is one month away.   On June 22, those attending are encouraged to wear their ONU gear and purchase tickets at the ONU sales window at Cedar Point for $36.   No pre-sale tickets available.   The day is for ONU alumni, friends, students, faculty, staff and families for a day of coasters and Polar Bears.

Power Out to Around 700 AEP Customers

Just over 700 American Electric Power customers are without service due to a tree falling on a line in Mt. Victory. The outage occurred around 7:15 this morning. As of 9, crews from AEP arrived on scene to repair the damage. No timetable was given as to when power would be restored. The outage is centered just south of Kenton, all of Mt. Victory and south of the village.

Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Train Near Bellefontaine

A Lima man was killed when he was struck by a train while walking on railroad tracks near Bellefontaine Tuesday night.   WPKO Radio reported that 41 year old Preston Adkins, formerly of Bellefontaine, was walking on the tracks in the area of Troy Road and County Road 32.   The CSX train was travelling between 40 to 42 miles an hour when it struck Adkins. Lima Man Indicted on Multiple Sex Charges

A Lima man was indicted on multiple sex related offenses.   The Lima News reported that an Allen County grand jury returned a 52 count indictment against 39 year old Jay Holliday.   Charges include two counts of trafficking in persons/involuntary servitude, four counts of rape, 15 counts of sexual battery, 14 counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor and 15 counts of felonious assault.   The charges stem from alleged incidents dating back to March of 2018 involving […]

Kenton Swimming Pool Opens Memorial Day

Just in time for rising temperatures, the Kenton Swimming Pool is close to opening for the season.   According to information from the City of Kenton Parks and Recreations Department, the pool will open on Monday Memorial Day, and will be open from noon until 4.   In celebration of kicking off the season, the pool will offer free admission that day.
