OSP Encourages Motorcyclists to Wear Proper Gear

The primary riding months for motorcycles fall inside what is considered the 100 Deadliest Days of Summer. That is the period between Memorial Day and Labor Day. In 2022, more than half of all crashes involving motorcycles occurred during that time period. The Ohio State Highway Patrol encourages motorcycle operators to wear the proper gear, including helmets and to have proper endorsement.

Ohio State Fair Underway in Columbus

The Ohio State Fair kicks off today in Columbus. Daily admission is $12 for adults and $10 for 6-12 year olds and seniors 60 and over. Children 5 and under are admitted free. Ride all day wristbands cost $35. The fair offers something for everyone, including music, rides, games and of course lots of food choices. The runs through August 6. The Village of Forest Municipal Building has announced new office hours starting next Tuesday August 1. The office will be open from 10am until 3pm on Mondays and Tuesdays. It will be closed on Wednesday. On Thursday and Friday, the office will be open from 10am until 3pm.

Kenton Rotary Hears from Member of Dunkirk Garden Club

Donna Price Kenton Rotary welcomed Donna Price from the Dunkirk Garden Club at Monday's meeting.   She explained that the club was founded in 1953 with 12 members, and today the group has 22 members.   The club has an annual plant sale that supports a scholarship given to a Hardin Northern student.   To date, they have awarded over $11,000 in scholarships and in 2023 they awarded $2500.   The group also takes […]

MLJ Library Collecting School Supplies

The Mary Lou Johnson Hardin County District Library is holding a Back to School Supply Drive. The library is collecting school supplies for local kids now through August 25. You can place the items in a black tub by the door at the library or take them into the Youth Service's Office at 325 East Columbus Street in Kenton. Every item will be given to a local child in need.
