Latta Explains No Vote on Bill to Raise Minimum Wage

Federal Help Expands for Four Counties

Columbus, Ohio – At the state’s request, federal assistance to Ohio in the wake of the May 27-29 storms and tornadoes has been approved for four counties to assist them in debris removal, life-saving emergency protective measures and permanent infrastructure repair. The four counties, Columbiana, Greene, Mercer and Montgomery, will be able to access funds from the Public Assistance (PA) program, FEMA’s largest grant program for communities that are recovering from major disasters. Grain Bin Fire Reported Late This Morning

A grain bin fire was reported late this morning.   According to information from the Kenton Fire Department, firefighters were dispatched to the Wagner Farm located in the 10,000 block of County Road 175.   The fire was contained to the silo and resulted in minimal damage.   The Dunkirk and Forest Fire Departments and BKP EMS assisted at the scene.   Firefighters were on the scene for a couple of hours.

Some Area Pools Offering Free Admission During Heatwave

Several area pools are offering free admission today and Saturday to help people beat the heat.   The Harrison Smith Park swimming pool in Upper Sandusky will admit people for free.   The village pool in Mt. Blanchard is also offering free swim time from 1-8pm Friday and Saturday.   The Excessive Heat Warning remains in effect through Saturday evening. Heat index values will be between 105-110 during that time.

Union County Man Arrest on Warrant Thursday

A man was arrested on a warrant following an incident in Union County Thursday morning.   According to the Daily Media Release from the Union County Sheriff's Office, deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 19,000 block of Northwest Parkway to investigate a child abuse complaint.   After an investigation, 54 year old Bryan K. Trippett was arrested on an outstanding warrant from Logan County.   He was released to the custody of a Logan County sheriff's deputy.

Retirement Reception Scheduled for Outgoing Y CEO

A retirement reception will be held for the outgoing CEO of the Hardin County Family YMCA.   Sean Galvin announced two weeks ago that is retiring from the position.   He has served 24 years at the Hardin County Y.   The retirement celebration party will take place starting at 10:00am on Wednesday July 31, which is if official last day on the job.   Cake and punch will be served, and all are invited to attend.

Competency Hearing Set for Walmart Arson Suspect

A competency hearing has been set for the man accused of starting a fire at Kenton's Walmart in early May.   26 year old Caleb T. Four Sentenced Recently in Common Pleas Court

Four people were sentenced recently in Hardin County Common Pleas Court.   According to the documents from Prosecutor Brad Bailey's Office:   .Delno L. Tidd was sentenced to a total of 30 months in prison on one count each of possession of heroin and having weapons while under disability.   The following three individuals were each placed on five years community control with conditions:   .Chad R.
