Several items were stolen after a garage in Kenton was broken into sometime within the past two weeks. According to the report, the incident was reported to Kenton police on Tuesday. The garage is located in the 500 block of King Street. Camping and welding equipment as well as other miscellaneous items were missing. The total value of the items was listed at $730.
A vandalism to property belonging to CSX Railroad was reported to the Wyandot County Sheriff's Office Tuesday. According to the report, a deputy was dispatched to the north side of Carey regarding a report that someone had shot the overhead railroad lights for trains travelling on the tracks. A Toledo man is facing several charges following a traffic stop in Wyandot County earlier this week. According to the report, a car was stopped for speeding on U.S. 23 near State Highway 53. Sheriff Al Solomon released the names and charges against 7 individuals arrested on Friday on numerous drug charges. The Grand Lake Task Force and local officers went out Friday afternoon with Grand Jury Indictments in hand and began the process of making the arrests. The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office will be opening for limited hours on some Saturdays due to increased demand for Carrying a Concealed Weapon licensing applications. Hours will be from 9 a.m. to Noon. Saturdays currently scheduled are March 2, 16, and 30 and April 6. Subsequent Saturdays will be posted at hancocksheriff.org and the Hancock County Sheriff Facebook page. Applicants will be served on a first come, first served basis.
The Kenton City Council continued negotiations with the Police Departments Union during closed session at last night's meeting. After returning from closed session, the Council brought forth the fact-finder’s report which recommended a six bullet point economic terms of agreement. Some of the bullet points included, double time pay for work on non-scheduled holiday, wage increases and, the inclusion of a Police Service Allowance. The group had a very successful day, which culminated with the group being named Grand Champions of the Small Mixed High School division against four other schools.
