USV Edges Kenton in Boys Basketball Action

Upper Scioto Valley defeated Kenton 51 to 47 in non-league boys basketball play Thursday at Kenton High School. The Rams conclude their regular season with at 17 and 5 mark. The Wildcats are now 13 and 8 and will host Bath this evening in Western Buckeye League play. WKTN will carry the game live, with the pregame show starting around 7:30 p.m.

Ada Pulls Away Late to Defeat Hardin Northern

A late surge was enough to push the Ada Bulldogs past Hardin Northern 60 to 48 in boys basketball play Thursday at Hardin Northern. The Bulldogs (5-16) led 50-47 midway through the fourth quarter but outscored the Polar Bears 10-1 down the stretch to notch the win. Phillip Coulson led the Bulldogs with 22 points and also grabbed five rebounds. Cory-Rawson 52, Riverdale 40

Cory-Rawson rallied in the second half to defeat Riverdale 52 to 40 in Division IV girls basketball sectional tournament play Tuesday at Bath. The Falcons (7-16) led 19 to 16 at the half but the Hornets outscored Riverdale 36 to 21 over the final two quarters to post the win. Zoe Chisolm scored a game-high 20 points for the Hornets (6-17) while Samantha Roth scored 11. Brooke Kuenzli had 14 points and Alex Rothlisberger scored 12 points for the Falcons.

LCC 63, Ridgemont 46

LCC shut out Ridgemont in the third quarter to break open a close game en route to a 63 to 46 victory in Division IV girls basketball sectional tournament play at Coldwater on Tuesday. The Thunderbirds (12-11) led 33-29 at the break but outscored Ridgemont 12-0 in the third period to take control of the contest. Faith Jenkins led Ridgemont (11-11) with 17 points while Shaylee McGrath scored 10 points for the Golden Gophers.

Regional Boys Teams Post Wins

Four regional boys basketball teams were winners in regular-season play Tuesday night. Riverdale improved to 13 and 8 by bouncing Tiffin Calvert 62 to 58. Upper Scioto Valley is now 16 and 5 after topping Allen East 58 to 44. Ridgemont evened its record at 11 and 11 after trouncing Cory-Rawson 63 to 43 while Hardin Northern moved to 7 and 14 with a 56 to 43 victory over Arcadia.

Kenton High School Girls Varsity Basketball falls to Shawnee Local Schools 56-32. The Cats were led by Hannah Holland with 12 points while Jenna Manns added 8 points. Shawnee was led by Tessa Jordan with 18 points while Trinity Gearing had 11 points.

Kenton Wrestlers Finish 8th at Weekend Meet

Kenton High School Coed Varsity Wrestling finishes 8th place at Wapakoneta High School. KHS wrestling placed 3 wrestlers on the podium on their way to the 8th place team finish. Noah Eikenbary after finishing in 2nd in 2018 and 4th in 2017 joins a short list of Kenton wrestlers from Kenton to win a WBL Championship in recent history. Allen East Wins NWC Wrestling Championship

Allen East scored a total of 296.5 points to take the 2019 Northwest Conference Wrestling Championship held at Allen East High School. Bluffton finished second in the tournament with 270 points while Columbus Grove took third at 216 points. The Kenton Wildcats stormed back from 16 points down to defeat Bluffton 66-65 in non-league boys basketball play Saturday. The Wildcats (13-7) trailed 26-10 in the second quarter, and the Pirates (14-7) held a 14-point lead seconds into the fourth period.
