Emergency Vehicles Collide, Officer Injured, in Marion

A Marion Police Officer was seriously injured in a crash involving emergency vehicles Monday afternoon.

According to a release from the Marion Post of the Ohio State Patrol, 51 year old Officer Daniel Ice was driving north on Main Street and when he entered the intersection at Fairground Street, his cruiser was struck by a westbound ambulance being operated by 22 year old Jacob Fohl.

After the collision, the ambulance overturned and came to rest on its side.

Officer Ice was transported to Marion General Hospital and was later flown by Med Flight to Riverside Hospital in Columbus.  

Fohl and a passenger in the ambulance, 24 year old Nicholas Hunley, were transported to Marion General Hospital and were treated for minor injuries.

Both vehicles were en route to a drowning incident at Quarry Park. 

The victim in the drowning incident was transported to the hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.

The crash remains under investigation.
