A former Kenton police officer was sentenced recently in Auglaize County Common Pleas Court to five years of community control and a $10,000 fine after pleading guilty to fourth-degree felony counts of pandering obscenity involving a minor and disrupting public services.

The charges stem from a Feb. 27, 2025, incident at Robert Vogel’s St. Marys residence involving two minors, ages 16 and 17. Officials said he engaged in sexual conduct with the 17-year-old and recorded the encounter, provided alcohol to both minors, and briefly took the 16-year-old’s phone to prevent her from contacting law enforcement.

As part of a plea agreement, other charges were dismissed. He was also classified as a Tier II sex offender and must register every 180 days for 25 years, with restrictions on contact with females under 21.
