The nominating petitions for two sitting Kenton City Council members have been rejected by the Hardin County Board of Elections.

According to information from the office, Anda Tudor originally filed as an independent candidate for Council at Large, and David Beazley filed as an independent candidate for Ward 2 Council.

Both petitions were filed prior to the May 5th deadline for independent petitions, and when a potential candidate is filing a Nominating Petition as an independent candidate, the candidate is stating that they are “independent” of a party.

However, both Tudor and Beazley then voted a party ballot in the May 6th Primary Election, and by requesting a party ballot, they are affiliating themselves with that party, so they can no longer be considered “independent” of a party.

The board then voted to reject their Nominating Petitions.

Thad Gardner has filed as a write-in candidate for the Ward 2 Council position.

There are 2 candidates who validly filed for Council at Large, and there are 3 seats open.
