KPD Investigation of Stolen Vehicle Leads to Officer Involved Shooting and Arrest of Dayton Man

An officer involved shooting occurred Tuesday evening in the parking lot of Ralphie’s Sports Eatery at 995 North Detroit Street in Kenton.

According to a release from Kenton Police Chief Dennis Musser, the shooting occurred after officers responded to investigate a report of a stolen vehicle.

The black Honda Accord had been reported stolen in Lima earlier Tuesday afternoon.

Following the shooting, 18-year-old Jaden Shannon, of Dayton, fled the area in the stolen vehicle, leading officers on a pursuit before crashing into a residence near West North Street and North Detroit Street.

Shannon then fled on foot and was apprehended in the 100 block of North Market Street.

Charges of Assault on a peace officer, Fleeing and eluding, obstructing official business, Receiving/in possession of stolen property are pending against Shannon.

Further details of the incident are being withheld pending an investigation by the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, which was requested at the scene.

Kenton Police Department was assisted by the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office, Kenton Fire Department and Route 31 Towing.
