A Kenton man was arrested after a pursuit with Kenton Police Officers Tuesday morning.
According to a release from Kenton Police Chief Dennis Musser, officers responded to a report of a small, black vehicle driving recklessly in the 900 block of East Columbus Street.
Upon arrival, an officer with KPD observed a black Ford Focus driving recklessly on Columbus Street near Morningside Drive.
When the officer attempted to stop the vehicle, it fled eastbound on Columbus Street, and the officer pursued the vehicle as it proceeded out of town, turning northbound onto CR 175.
The pursuit continued northbound on 175 until the driver lost control of the vehicle and it struck a pole and traveled into a field at County Road 175 and State Route 53.
The suspect, 21-year-old Malachi Freeman of Kenton, then fled the vehicle on foot and was taken into custody just west of 53 shortly after.
Charges of OVI, felony fleeing and eluding and driving under OVI suspension are pending.
Kenton Police were assisted on the scene by Deputies from the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office.
