
The trial of a Mt. Victory man who is facing charges of aggravated murder, murder, involuntary manslaughter, felonious assault and two counts of tampering with evidence is scheduled to start Monday, February 2.
Andrew McCafferty is accused of stabbing to death James Collins in Mt. Victory on October 1, 2025.
Defense attorney Joel Spitzer provided notice of intent to assert self-defense or defense of others pursuant to Ohio’s Stand Your Ground law enacted in 2021.
McCafferty contends that his actions were necessary and reasonable under the circumstances to prevent injury or death.
The trial is scheduled for five days.
