Riverdale Local Schools announced the resignation of K–12 Assistant Principal Nathan Sorg following last nights BOE meeting, referencing an incident that occurred at the district’s K–12 office on April 14, 2026.

According to a statement released by Superintendent Greg Rossman, the district immediately reported the incident to the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department and placed Sorg on administrative leave while both law enforcement and an internal district investigation were conducted. During the course of the investigation, Sorg submitted his resignation.

The district did not release specific details regarding the nature of the incident, citing federal and state student privacy laws.

The statement also stated that the Board has policies and procedures, consistent with Ohio law, that address the use of restraint and seclusion of students and that they expect their employees to act consistently with the law.

Rossman ended by saying that student safety is their top priority.
