
The day everyone has been waiting for happens Friday.
After a long closure, Detroit, Columbus, and Franklin Streets as well as East Forest Raod will all be open
City of Kenton officials released this statement:
“We know it’s been a long process — thank you for your incredible patience! A few final tweaks and adjustments are still ahead (including permanent striping and turn lanes on Detroit Street this spring), so please continue to drive carefully.
Key Changes & Reminders:
❌ Northbound Main Street traffic– NO left turns onto Franklin Street or Columbus Street
🔄 Permanent striping WITH turn lanes on Detroit Street coming Spring 2026
🔧 Signalization at Carroll Street will be fully upgraded beginning in early 2026
🚸 Please be aware of the new mid-block crosswalk on Columbus Street between Detroit & Main– Signalization coming soon!
🚛 Northbound 68 truck route – Trucks must turn at Carrol Street
🛑 Please stay back and respect the stop bars at intersections
🚸 Always yield to pedestrians in crosswalks (including the new mid-block one!), especially when turning right on red – pedestrians have the right of way.
Officials added, “Let’s keep each other safe as we adjust to the new traffic pattern. Thank you again for your patience.”
