A house just north of Kenton was totally destroyed by a fire over the weekend.

According to information from Kenton Fire Chief Bruce Donnelly, firefighters were dispatched at just before 10 this past Saturday night to 9880 State Route 53, which was occupied by Lori Mowery.

She was out of the house when firefighters arrived, and there were no injuries.

Pets that were in the house remain unaccounted for today.

The first floor was fully engulfed in flames when they got to the scene, but Chief Donnelly said the fire quickly spread due to the windy conditions that night.

The damage estimate for the property and contents was listed at $138,000.

Fire departments from Dunkirk, Forest, McGuffey and Mt. Victory provided mutual assistance.

Firefighters were on the scene for around four hours.

They continue to check on the property due to hot spots that remain.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
