Flags in Clark County were ordered to be flown at half-staff in honor of the life and service of Deputy Matthew Yates from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.

The 15 year veteran was shot and killed after he responded to an incident inside a mobile home in the 1100 block of Ashwood Drive Sunday morning.

Governor Mike DeWine this morning ordered the flags of the United States and the State of Ohio be flown at half-staff upon all public buildings and grounds throughout Clark County and at the Ohio Statehouse, Vern Riffe Center, and Rhodes State Office Tower in Columbus.

All other public buildings and grounds throughout the state may fly the flags at half-staff at their discretion for the same time period.

Flags will remain lowered until sunset on the day of his interment.
