At Monday evening’s Kenton City Council meeting, Law Director John Schwemer gave an update regarding the city’s collection’s efforts against David Rigdon.

Schwemer told council members that he just received judgement against Rigdon to recoup money paid by the city for the demolition of the Rigdon owned Surplus Building, which was in May of this year.

He said the city received $100,000 but nothing after that, which prompted the lawsuit.

After winning judgement, Schwemer said the city will begin the process of foreclosing on some of Rigdon’s properties in January, which he said will be a process.

“That won’t happen right away, but we’ll be starting that process. That is the only process I can work through. It takes a couple of different actions, because you’ve got to perfect your judgement, and then you’ve got to collect on your judgement through foreclosure, so that’s what we’ll be moving forward in January, said Schwemer.”

Also at the meeting, newly elected members were introduced, and council also bid farewell to two members, celebrating contributions with gratitude and humor.
