Kenton Police officers are trained and ready for just about any call that comes into the office.

This past Saturday, one of the calls was a bit on the wild side.

Officer Dillon Carter rescued a hawk that was in need of some help.

The hawk, who the officer named Jeff, was taken back to the police department for some proper food and fluids.

Late Sunday night, a staff member from Crows Hollow Wildlife Care went to the police department to pick up the hawk, and they explained that it’s not unusual for young birds to struggle with hunting at first and that he was not injured, just malnourished.

Jeff is expected to make a full recovery and will be released back into the wild soon.
