Keep Hardin County Beautiful presented its latest Outstanding Beautification Award to Ann Brien for her home on Township Road 225.

Here is the story submitted by KHCB:

We recently visited Hardin County resident Ann Brien at her home on Township Road 225. Sitting on her front porch and talking about her beautiful landscape was a relaxing experience. As we visited, we enjoyed the variety of plants and flowers surrounding us. Each area of her property has been carefully designed, planted, and maintained to give the plants the best opportunity to thrive during this summer’s heat.

As we walked around the house, it was evident that every section of the landscape had been thoughtfully planned to achieve a specific look and purpose. Ann has a beautiful collection of trees, shrubs, and flowers at her home at 10356 Twp. Rd. 225. One of her favorites is a tricolor beech tree, which changes color throughout the summer and fall, providing a colorful view from her front porch. Another favorite is her blue Rose of Sharon, which was just beginning to bloom during our visit.

When asked what she enjoys most about her landscaping and gardens, Ann quickly replied, “Getting my hands in the dirt.” Gardening brings her a sense of peace, allowing her to focus on the task at hand and later enjoy the rewards of her hard work as the plants come into bloom.

Several years ago, Ann enlisted the help of Hart Landscaping to create the design she had envisioned for her property. Today, the result is a beautifully landscaped yard that she can enjoy from her sunroom or front porch throughout the seasons. Take a drive by and see her beautiful landscape and you may even see her sitting on her front porch reading.
