The railroad crossing gates are malfunctioning and blocking traffic at crossings on State Route 31 south of Kenton and in the Village of Mt. Victory even though no trains are approaching.

CSX advises that this is due to a circuit malfunction.

No time frame for repairs has been given.

The Hardin County Sheriff’s Office stated that motorists should take note that even though a train may not be approaching at a given time, train traffic is still active and a train may pass through the crossing without any additional notice.

Also, be aware that the Sheriff’s Office cannot lift the gates for traffic to pass through and that driving around the lowered gates is against the law.

At this time motorists should find an alternate route.
