A Union County man got a visit from Gov. Mike DeWine and First Lady Fran DeWine on Wednesday letting him know that he won $1 million in the state’s Vax-a-Million lottery.

Mark Cline from Richwood won the top prize Wednesday evening.

At a press conference held this morning with the governor, Cline said it was a surreal moment for him and his family, “From the moment we looked out and saw you (DeWine) on our doorstep, things just started moving a million miles a minute, and we’ve had family and friends reaching out and congratulating us, so it’s been really exciting and kind of a fun time to have won this so that was great.”

Cline retired from Marathon in Findlay in 2016. He and his wife moved from Findlay to Richwood to be closer to family members from Marysville.

Sara Afaneh from Lorain County is the winner of the four-year scholarship, including room and board.

Another million dollar winner and scholarship winner will be announced June 16 and the contest concludes when the winners are announced June 23.
